There are days that something said or done by another will send me on a wild mental journey. I mean sometimes you hear something that just causes you to stop in your tracks, take a step back and enjoy the moment, while pondering what you just heard. In our busy lives and in an increasingly busy world, it seems it has become harder to pick up on such things. That's why I want to share some nuggets with you. I heard just such a thing tonight that I would like to share with you. My pastor spoke tonight about friendship. Not just any kind of friendship, but true friendship. Is there a difference? I believe so. In the Bible Jesus told His disciples, those closest to Him, that He would no longer call them servants, but friends. True friendships are those of whom you can trust with ANYTHING, without fear of retribution or betrayal. I have a number of friends, but very few, very very few of them that I can truly bare my soul too. So without further ado, I want to share with you ten things from my pastor, on a what a true friend is, enjoy. 1. A true friend is hard to find, 2. A true friend will know God first, 3. A true friend will make you better, 4. A true friend will love you no matter what, 5. A true friend will make your life better, 6. A true friend will have no agenda, 7. A true friend will not be jealous of other friends, 8. A true friend will look beyond your shortcomings, 9. A true friend makes true friends (they will treat you the way you treat them) 10. A true friend will remain true friends. This was tied into the fact that God called Abraham His friend in James 2:23. Even Solomon had something to say about the importance of friendship in Proverbs 18:24, ending it with making the statement that there is a friend that stays closer than a brother. We are quick to point to Jesus, and yes, He is there by our side closer than any family member, but also too, He stays beside us closer than any human being. That though is also a true statement of a true friend. There are some who will stand by you even when family deserts you. And that my friends is the reality of it!
